Teaching Grade 12 Chemical Industry

I enjoy all of the shows we do, but this one was more than just enjoyment, it was fun!

Marissa provided much guidance on how to teach the topic. She emphasized using the topic to do revision, but also doing more 'out of the box' things to teach it.

For example, she suggested using a class debate to discuss various issues related to the topic, and to bring in the social issues.
It turns out, this is a wonderful section to show the learners that there is not always a clear defined right answer. Life is about making the best of any situation and this topic is a perfect place to have those discussions.
One of the main points of our discussion was how to use this section to revise other parts of chemistry. It was an eye opening experience to see how all of these sections come together to do something useful. Marissa said there was a danger that teachers could leave out this section, but urged them to use it as a method of revision and application of their knowledge.

Marissa's slides are quite comprehensive, so let's take a look at them:

This blog post has been really short, but there is nothing I really need to add to the show. The conversation we had was comprehensive and the slides back it up nicely. If you have anything else to add, feel free to make comments below!

If you would like to brush up on your content knowledge, check out the Mindset Learn website. The series guide for this topic also has some great sites you could use.

Until next time, happy teaching!
