Healthy living and the food pyramid

Great Lesson Idea
The teacher combines the theme of Healthy Living by introducing the food pyramid as part of her reading experience. She discusses good and bad eating habits as well as which foods are important to the body. She then completes her lesson with an activity where the children have to identify words. They have to read the sentences and draw pictures of various foods.

Teaching new vocabulary with flashcards

Great Lesson Idea
This lesson was delivered by Rebecca Tshitamba. The teacher introduces the lesson by dressing up a child as a bride and tells a story. She continues her lesson by telling the story and then by using flash cards she teaches the learners new vocabulary. She encourages them the read paragraph by paragraph and asks them questions to test their comprehension. She also challenges them to retell the story in their own words.
